I can only hope this to be true
We need some cool new discoveries to show that science is worth the money…..

One of the biggest debuts in the science world could happen in a matter of weeks: The Higgs boson may finally, really have been discovered. Ever since tantalizing hints of the Higgs turned up in Decem…

Anything definitive would be valuable. Demonstrate that it exists or that it doesn't. Same value either way. It would be more "scientifically fun" if there turns out to be no Higgs boson. We stretch ourselves at the drawing board.
That'd be pretty cool indeed
+Jeff Clough It seems its all about the question of definite info….. I just would be happy to see positive results out of the LHC…. Science in general needs some positive results…
+Brent Burzycki, this is the common perception problem. Any definite result should be perceived as a good thing. The scientific process tries only to provide answers. Sometimes the answer is yes, and sometimes it's no, but an answer is provided. And then sometimes all we learn along the way is how to make the experiment better, and that as bad as it gets so long as those involved remain rational.
Science succeeds when it provides new knowledge, and I wish the general public could see that. I'm concerned that failure to find the Higgs boson will be perceived as a failure of science, which it absolutely would not be. Demonstration that the Higgs doesn't exist would be hugely exciting news!
+Jeff Clough Ah scientific results and the general public… I guess we have to remember that most think the the LHC is going to create a blackhole and suck in most of Europe…at least to many… and the rest think its a huge waste of money…
I am all for massive expenditure on science and discovery projects…. we need to learn more much faster if you ask me…I think we are years behind where we should be with important discoveries..
I know science is hard – but I also know we spend nothing on it compared to other ventures that are worthless in the long run / big picture….
I am hoping they don't find it, it be a lot more fun that way
